Clinical Data Analysis

My expertise and research interest are mainly focused on neuroimaging technologies and their applications in the clinical settings, especially for the neurological diseases, such as the Parkinson’s disease and other types of movement disorders. Recently, my colleagues and I also tried to apply multi-modal neuroimaging technologies to estimate the brain networks established by long-term entrainment from the epileptogenic zone(s). In this talk, I would like to present how the model of independent component analysis (ICA) can be used to decompose the multi-channel stereotaxic electroencephalographic (sEEG) recordings from seizure patients so as to find the underlying sources of the seizure-related brain activity. Then, we can further estimate the connectivity among these brain areas affected by the epileptic activity. Such knowledge may further provide the valuable information for the medical doctors to plan for the resection of the epileptogenic zones.
