I.   Organizer: Department of Statistics
      Co-organizer: Department of Management Information Systems, Department of Information Science, and Department of Applied
      Mathematics

II.  Program Committee:
      This Committee is formed by the chairperson and one faculty representative of the Department of Statistics; the chairperson and one faculty
      representative of the Department of Management Information Systems; the chairperson and one faculty representative of the Department of
      Information Science; and the chairperson and one faculty representative of the Department of Applied Mathematics. The chairperson of the
      Department of Statistics shall be the convener.

III.  Program goals
      This program aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with both statistical analysis and information management abilities to cope with the needs 
      of the big data era.

IV.  Foci and objectives of development
       The program is designed to equip student with a basic understanding of statistical methods and information science, and train students to get
       familiar with the application of statistical and information software for students to fully understand the business application of big data and data
       mining, in order to extract valuable information from big data. This program will be supported by enterprise internships.

V.   Eligibility
       Undergraduates: Sophomores and above of each department.

VI.  Curriculum system
        The minimum course credits needed for completing this program are 26 credits. Please refer to the course syllabi for details of required and
        elective courses.

VII.  Program start date: Semester 1, academic year 2014

VIII. Application procedures
         This program requires advance application. Students wishing to enroll to this program shall prepare related documents and submit them to the
         Department of Statistics to apply for enrollment after the announcement made in April. Application documents must include an application form
         and a transcript. Applications must be approved by the program committee before students are allowed to enroll in the program.

VIIII.Program certificate application date:
          Undergraduate students completing the required courses and credits of the program may apply to the Department of Statistics for a certificate of
          completion by June 30 in semester 2. After the review and approval by the program committee, the NCCU College of Commerce will issue a
          program certificate to students.

X.    These Guidelines will be implemented after the approval of the program committee and the approval for review by the NCCU College
         of Commerce. The same shall apply to any amendments thereof.
